Settings
The Settings panel has two sections:
- Manage Resource Settings
- Manage MIME Types
Manage Resource Settings
You can have multiple settings to apply to your Resource Groups. Each setting allows you to define specific restrictions to the uploaded file. You may select from Image Size, File Size and File Type. By creating several settings and groups, you can easily control your member's ability to upload certain files. For example, Bronze members can only upload 10 mb audio files, where Gold members can upload 50mb files of video, audio and text.
- Name: Enter the name of your new setting
- Weblog: Select the weblog to which to attribute this setting. This should be the same weblog as your resource.
- Image Properties: If you wish to re-size the image upon upload, select Yes, and specify your dimensions in the Height and Width text boxes.
- File Properties: Set the maximum file size allowed for upload. The destination path allows you to set the directory on your server in which you want to store your files. The path should be your server path to your directory. The permissions of the directory should be set to 777. Resources will encrypt everything that it places in the folder.
- File Types Allowed: Select the MIME group(s) you wish the resource setting to accept.
Manage MIME Types
Use Manage MIME types to create groups of acceptable files you wish to allow people to submit. By default, a basic set of macros are installed to handle common file types for audio, video, images, documents and archives. You can alter these sets or create your own for precise control over your install.
- MIME Macros: Create groups to control file submission restrictions.
- File MIME Types: Select the file types you would like to include in your group. If the desired type is not included, you can add it to the list by using the Create/Edit MIME Type text box.
- File Extensions: You can add specific allowable file extensions to your macro group. For example use ".PDF".
After setting up your Resource Setting and File MIME Types, you need to apply them to your Resource Groups.
