Required Pieces
Setting up an e-commerce store requires several elements to be configured to make everything work properly. You will need a server, a website running ExpressionEngine, a FoxyCart account, a merchant account and possibly a shipping account.
Server Requirements
- MySQL 4.X
- PHP 4 or 5 (5 is preferred)
- PHP CURL lib installed
ExpressionEngine
Foxee is an EE module and requires EE to function. For security, we recommend that you use the latest release of ExpressionEngine.
- ExpressionEngine 1.6.7 or higher is required
- Not yet compatible with EE 2.0
JQuery Setings
You must enable the ExpressionEngine JQuery Extension. Also you will want to make sure that you update the links to a minimum of the following:
- http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js
- http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jqueryui/1.7.2/jquery-ui.min.js
FoxyCart
FoxyCart is a web-based cart service that provides you with a PCI compliant secure connection to your merchant account and shipping provider. FoxyCart reduces your setup and maintenance costs significantly and, being very flexible, is able to meet a wide variety of user configurations. FoxyCart requires a monthly fee and is a company separate from HCC and ExpressionEngine.
Merchant Account
FoxyCart supports several merchant providers or payment gateways. Check their list and choose the one that best suites your needs. You will then need to insert you merchant account settings in your FoxyCart store settings.
Shipping Provider
If you are going to ship your products you will need to set up an account with one of the provided shipping carriers. Check FoxyCart's list of supported carriers.
