Title: 15th Annual Robbie Burns Memorial Supper & Poetry Slam
Site Name: Burnsnicht.com
Developer: Villagewerx LLC
Site Link: http://www.burnsnicht.com

Description:Every year since 1801, scotch whisky fans around the world have gathered to celebrate the birthdate of Scotland's literary hero, poet Robert Burns. By tradition, the celebrations include a lavish dinner, malt whisky, readings and much laughter. Burnsnicht.com is the website of a New Jersey gathering that will meet for its 15th consecutive time in January. Built atop ExpressionEngine, the site's owners sought an integrated reservations experience that reflected the quality annual supper participants had come to expect. (Loose links to PayPal had always seemed cheesy and lead to numerous abandoned transactions.) FoxyCart provided the right private branding solution and Villagewerx licensed HCC's FoxEE module in December 2008. FoxEE quickly proved its worth, providing an integrated, single sign-on membership mechanism triggered by Reservations sales. Order flow through FoxyCart worked flawlessly, and end-to-end transactions through Quantum's payments gateway were live in time for the 14th annual event in January, 2008. In conjunction, a new website was developed to funnel reservations transactions into the cart and it runs year-round, despite the once-a-year nature of the event. With just one "product" to sell, this presented the owners with an unexpected dilemma.Taking the orders system offline completely would have meant redesigning the site's primary content and navigation. Burnsnicht.com resolved this by leaving the integrated cart solution in-place, and zeroing out the purchase price for the expired event to avoid sending merchant transactions through the gateway, which remains live. Visitors can still click through the purchase links in the website to observe how FoxyCart fits within the overall user experience. FoxEE captures product, pricing and enrollment information that ExpressionEngine uses to populate the site's offer and confirmation pages, and to populate the ExpressionEngine membership base. Reservations for the 2010 "product" will go on-line in November, along with minor content changes to the website. FoxEE makes implementing a new product as simple as adding another entry to ExpressionEngine. Villagewerx expects to employ this software/cartservice/payments processor solution for future ECommerce projects. Integration and end-to-end performance are superb.
