The 2009 "Best Site" Winner!
We want to thank everyone for participating in our 2009 Best Site contest. Everybody's projects were fantastic and it was hard to determine a winner. It was real close between VerVita Products Redesign, Bradford Mercantile and Dury's guns. Shift Design and Pretty Squares did a great job with design and foxycart integration. Nate Lier at Flipbox Studios did a great job with the catalog layout and with design as well. We ended up deciding on Dury's guns for several reasons. The main factor is the pure testament to what the foxee/foxycart/EE combination can achieve. They have over 40 million visitors a year, keep a product catalog of almost 2000 products and allow customers to register and upload their own product descriptions and images for used sales. Additionally they harness the power of FoxyCarts Authorize only feature to comply with federal regulations on waiting periods for firearm purchases. That combined with integrating several other third party modules makes for a excellant example of the power website developers have using foxee. Congratulations to the Parscale Media team.

Description:Selling guns is a unique business in general, but selling guns online is even trickier. Not only because of regulations and compliance issues, but also because of the volume of individual items sold. The marketing needs of the website were met through utilizing Expression Engine as the CMS. Through its efficiency and intuitiveness, the 3 dedicated Durys staffers are able to easily manage the inventory that numbers close to the 2000 mark. EE is also integrated into their POS system so in-store purchases are deducted and reflected online. FoxEE has made it possible for Dury’s to be the first website to offer true online shopping for guns, across the world and U.S., as well as domestic interstate delivery. The process is simple and PCI compliant. The site is a great example of a dynamic CSS/ xHTML design integrated with FoxEE to allow a fully customizable end product.

Infobright was the first project to use FoxEE to integrate the FoxyCart gateway service into ExpressionEngine. Being a Canadian company we worked with FoxyCart to create "Super Taxes" which allows for complete support of multiple country Tax laws.
WIth different product types and support subscriptions Infobright really pushed FoxEE to it's limits in the early days. Additionally they required special gateway service compliance with PayPal Pro which FoxyCart supported without problems.

Description:The Makery run craft workshops and parties. We designed and built a website that allows their customers to book workshops and shop online using using FoxEE. Customers can search the calendar or browse the categories to find availability workshops. We have used Ajax where appropriate to make the checkout process as smooth as possible. The site has been a real success and, thanks to a small update to FoxEE courtesy of HCC, The Makery can use the control panel reporting to view who has booked which workshop at the start of each day.
